If the conditions are good, this wonderful and magnificent adventure trip is accessible, for most intermediate skiers and is a fantastic journey into the largest glaciated domain in the Alps, the Mont Blanc massif.
Another day or two, we will travel by bus to Italy to ski Courmayeur and enjoy their special brand of Italian mountain food. We are also invited to visit the Rossignol Dynastar Factory in nearby Isere and we will fit that in on a day where conditions either aren’t as great or when everyone is feeling like taking a rest day.
The famous Vallée Blanche in Chamonix is an off-piste ski route, 20km long with a vertical descent of 2700m. The views are stunning and the high mountain environment provides a real sensation of wilderness. This is one of those memorable life experiences that you’ll never forget.
When you aren’t skiing you can enjoy relaxing in one of the Valley’s spas, the public pool, shopping in the lively streets of Chamonix, the friendly atmosphere in the town’s bars, a traditional or exotic dinner, or a gastronomic meal in a first-class restaurant and, lastly, the fun ambiance of a Euro dance floor! It’s all possible.
Kirk McEwan is the General Manager of Sturtevant’s Sports, Ski Mart and Ski Bonkers and has been skiing since almost before he could walk. Since the age of two his weekend playground has been Crystal Mountain, WA. An all around skier, he skied on their race and freestyle teams until the age of 18 and even did some Nordic Jumping in college in Colorado. Kirk has skied thousands of runs but lists his all time favorite in the mid 90’s at, yes – you guessed it… CHAMONIX. A spectacular run, guided from top down the glaciers to the valley floor. The powder was chest deep at the top and it took half a day to arrive at the bottom. He’s been wanting to go back ever since and share that experience with others.
