Hyperlite Men’s Side Entry Life Vest

High performance safety

Cost : $99.99   SHOP ITEM

Ideal User: Someone who wants performance but still wants a full coasty approved vest
Pros: Mobility is really good for coast guard approved vest, good styling
Cons: Still bulkier than a true comp vest

Life vests have come a long way over the past decade with competition and impact vests becoming a stable item in the boat. Competition vests tend to have great mobility and styling. But with all that comfort and fashion you do loose some function by the way of lack of buoyancy. If you still want a full coast guard approved jacket there are high performance options.

One of our favorites is this years Hyperlite Side Entry. It has segmented panels that give it mobility similar to a comp vest while only being a little thicker. The Glide Skin neoprene is comfy and really cuts down on the wind. (a nice touch if you are from the PNW).

The big arm holes make it a great vest not just for wake boarding but do not rub while skiing either. Another cool feature are the hidden buckles which do not catch on anything and complete the solid Hyperlite styling.

While Hyperlite does a really good job cutting down the bulk, the flotation does come at a price and it is not nearly as thin or light as say O’Neill’s Checkmate Comp Vest.

But if you are looking to play by the rules or just looking for a little more float than that bullet proof vest looking thing you are sporting, take a look at the Hyperlite Side Entry
