We’ve been around for 40 years – and look forward to another 40!
Hello Friends, This is a big year for Sturtevant’s! Along with just finishing up the 39th SkiBonkers event and moving our store this Fall, we have a new status with Christy Sports of Colorado.
The short version: Christy Sports, LLC announced (Sept 7, 2016) its recent acquisition of Dual Sports Incorporated, which includes Sturtevant’s, Ski Mart, and SkiBonkers (an annual sale event). While this is a big change, Christy Sports and Sturtevant’s share common core values as family-based operations providing quality products with exceptional customer service.
“It is very important to us that our customers, staff and industry representatives know they will continue working with a family operation, both here in the Pacific Northwest and in the Rockies,” stated Tracy Gibbons, President of Sturtevant’s. We will continue with the Sturtevant’s name, gift cards will be accepted as always, and customers can continue to expect the same Sturtevant’s staff, service, style, and selection.
With the exception of the new look for our new Sturtevant’s store, you can expect that everything else will feel the same.

Here is the Official Press Release:
LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Christy Sports LLC today announced its most recent acquisition of the assets of Dual Sports Incorporated, which include Sturtevant’s, Ski Mart, and SkiBonkers (an annual sale event). The acquisition closed August 31, 2016; financial terms were not disclosed.
As an established fixture in the Colorado and Utah snow sports communities since 1958, Christy Sports’ future growth plan includes expansion into the Pacific Northwest. “The Pacific Northwest is home to a large population of outdoor enthusiasts, and the entire Christy Sports team is excited to expand into that market,” stated Patrick O’Winter, Christy Sports CEO. “Acquiring a company like Sturtevant’s with its already established strong brand reputation is the first step in growing our business in the Pacific Northwest. This transaction also sets the stage for our company to pursue additional opportunities for expansion, product diversification and acquisitions.”
As the largest specialty snow sports retailer in Washington, Sturtevant’s will be anchored by its new Bellevue flagship store opening in October 2016. Sturtevant’s provides quality products and expert customer service to guests in the greater Seattle market, focusing on ski and snowboard equipment in the winter and a supplemental summer business focused on water sports and golf apparel. Ski Mart locations in Tacoma and Bellevue offer complimentary seasonal offerings of ski and snowboard equipment and rental with water sports and tennis during the summer season. Since 2005, Ski Mart has hosted an annual ski and snowboard Labor Day weekend sale event called SkiBonkers.
With complementing shared common core values as family-based operations, Sturtevant’s and Christy Sports collectively provide quality products and exceptional customer service. “It is very important to us that our staff, industry representatives and customers know they will continue working with a family operation, both here in the Pacific Northwest and in the Rockies. We strongly believe that the combined culture and direction of our two companies will blend together very well to make each of us stronger together and individually,” stated Tracy Gibbons, President of Sturtevant’s.
Post transaction, Christy Sports will continue to adhere to its mission of exceeding customer expectations through outstanding service, deep product knowledge and high quality brand name equipment. Daily operations of Sturtevant’s, Ski Mart and SkiBonkers will continue as usual and operate from their existing head office in Bellevue under their current names, leadership team and staff. Christy Sports team will provide insight and guidance as they continue to better understand the unique needs of Pacific Northwest-based outdoor enthusiasts. “Christy Sports recognizes the great culture and business that Sturtevant’s cultivated and how similar it is to ours. We are excited about sharing our expertise with their team and growing our combined business together,” stated Dan Fox, Christy Sports Vice President of Operations.
Sturtevant’s new flagship store in Bellevue will be located at 13131 NE 20th and will replace its current location at 1100 Bellevue Way NE.
